Now, I want some sincere input from the ladies, yet if the dudes have some good info, fire off in the comments!

Here's the deal: I met a girl at the gym that thought I was some personal trainer or at least an expert... unfortunately I am not Undecided, yet couldn't let such an opportunity walk away Grin. She is asking me to help her tone up and get some definition. In my opinion, she is just perfect the way she is, but she still insists that she need help. As I found out, she used to be a volleyball player for several years, but now stopped and put on a measly couple of kilos. So... she's at the gym but does not know where to start. I want some PERSONAL advice on a good intermediate workout routine that is:

1. a full body routine, with a slight emphasis on mid section & legs that is meant for getting definition, not weight loss
2. uses basic equipment or body weight (no BOWFLEXES, etc.)
3. meant to be done 3-4 times a week
4. FUN, or at least enjoyable


I know there are plenty posts and sources online for women's training. That is my problem: THERE IS JUST TOO MUCH! I want something that you ladies liked and had good success with.
Please do not just link me to videos and workouts that you have never tried or seen done in person, I am just as much an expert at Google search Wink

If any guy happens to read this post and has worked out with his girl, please feel free to post the workout if it meets my strict demands Grin

hello there i had a similar situation to yours with a friend of mine haha
no personal trainer either but i had ask scooby xD anyways

i gave my friend these  2 routines from 21 workouts to do

Workout
   A1 lunges - 3xAMRAP / 60
   A2 Chinups   we did these with bands to assist her - 3xAMRAP / 60
   A3 Pushups - 3xAMRAP / 60

classical bodybnuilding rep range to get some muscle on those legs so she can get that definition that she wants, you say you got covered the rest  nutrition and cardio for that lower body fat


and then after a few months she started doing these one

DAYS 1 & 3
   A1 Lunge - 4x15-20 20X0 30
   A2 Lat Pulldown - 4x15-20 3121 30
   A3 Incline bench press - 4x15-20 4010 30
   B1 DB squat - 4x15-20 2010 45
   B2 DB pullover - 3x10-15 4120 0
   B3 DB shoulder press - 3x10-15 2121 20
--

DAYS 2 & 4
   A1 DB SLDL - 4x15-20 / 30
   A2 DB rows - 4x15-20 2121 30
   A3 Bench press - 4x16-20 2110 30
   B1 Step ups - 3x25 / 0
   B2 Leg raises - 3x25 2020 0
   B3 Hyperextensions - 3x25 2011 30

although we replaced the pullovers with bb rows and bench press with db bench press because she hated those

she now looks amazing

    My girlfriend does the exact same routine that I do, and she looks fantastic.  You can do only two things;

    -Gain muscle
    -Lose fat

    There is no toning up etc.  Only losing fat will make your body/musculature more defined.

    Monday                                                                               Monday
    Squats                                                                                Squats
    Leg Press (can be dropped if you don't have one)                      Bench (push-ups)
    Calves                                                                                 Rows

    Wednesday                                                                         Wednesday
    Bench press (or push-ups)                                                      Squats
    Chin-ups                                                                              Deadlifts
    Dips                                                                                    Press
    Rows                                                    OR   

    Friday                                                                                (AxBxAxx BxAxBxx)
    Deadlifts
    Front Squats

    Saturday
    Press
    Pull-ups
    Dumbbell press
    Rows

    Yes, my girlfriend does this.  And has the legs and glutes to show for working her lower body properly Wink

    @Sabaton, your routine looks legit! I'll definitely see how she likes it. I have a feeling that we'll be replacing bench press with DB as well Smiley

    @Polished, thank you as well! Smiley I know there are no JUST for men routines and JUST for women as everyone can benefit from similar workouts, but your routine is slightly more complex than she wants. She's looking for a full body workout in the same day, not a split. Your routine is great, yet I'm not the judge here Tongue


    Oh, and since guys are on here now as well, the one who gives the best routine gets access to special pictures!!! Juuuust kidding Grin but keep 'em coming guys AND ladies. The more routines I got to offer, the more of a "fitness expert" I'll be Grin

    I had her do the day 2 & 4 workout, since it's a Saturday, and guess what?? Bench press did not suit her, so we were doing dumbbells... ohh ladies... (I kinda have a feeling why bench is not favored by most females  Wink)

    Anyways... SUCCESS!!!
