    I'd like to hear from girls. Do you do plate weight workouts or body weight workouts? I used to be a firm believer of body weight as not many girls wish to be massive but rather lean with slim muscles.

    Then I have learned that lifting heavy weight doesn't necessarily make you massive. It's almost impossible for girls to be massive and big.
    And lifting heavy does help to lose body fat very efficiently.

    But then, body weight workouts do have lot of benefits and it's not 100% necessary to buy plates either. Rather a matter of convenience and choice.

    It's like wheels of a bicycle and cannot be separated but I'd like to hear your opinions.

    Me? I lift very heavily lately and am getting good results. So I do recommend you to buy plates if you have money  Grin
    But there are plenty of work around, too.

    Easy answer, both.

    I like body weight exercises for the lack of equipment and the functional aspect.  You might have a reason to do a pull up (climb over something) in real life.  To be fair, if I pick up something heavy I do deadlift or goblet squat it, depending on the most convenient grip.

    However, I think it's easier to track and gauge progress using weights.  Sure I can do more pull ups than I could a month ago, but if I was also 10lbs heavier last month, am I really much stronger?  Gradual progress is also easier with weights.  Creeping up 1 or 2lbs a week on a dead lift is possible with tiny plates.  Progression isn't as straight forward with body weight.  You'll need to modify / completely change exercises as you get stronger.  At first 8 lunges might be really hard, but eventually you'll need to switch to pistols to actually challenge your legs.
