I started cross country in college a few weeks ago. Before I started, I would select "3-5 hrs/wk moderate exercise" on Scooby's calculator. Now that I am on the team, should I be selecting "5-6 hrs/wk strenuous exercise?"

I just thought I'd ask here since I am a woman, and all.  Wink

Cross country is pretty intense.  I'd go with strenuous.

No, I mean practice structure. Like, average milage, what kind of stuff (mile repeats, fartleks, or just distance), how many days a week, morning run or not (if so, how many a week and how long), etc. Though, on another thread you made, I did give you my little calorie burn system, which I find is more accurate.

Okay, I think I might have a grasp of what a week looks like for me:

Mon- (still not sure) ...Well, this week, we did 7 miles; the first and last 2 miles were easy, while the 3 miles in between were sort of a hard but relaxed pace.

Tues- Intervals followed by about 20 minutes of strength and core work.

Wed- I think it's usually an easy day; my coach sends me out for 5 miles. I think we usually have an ab workout after.

Thurs- Last week, we did two 1 miles repeats (one of which was done on a hilly part of a course), a fartlek, a bit of strength/ core work, then pool work. (We do pool work every Thurs)

Fri- I have yet to attend practice on a Friday  Shocked  ...so I would always just go 5 on my own, but my legs are usually tired.

These past two weeks, I've taken both Saturday and Sunday off. I thought I would benefit from two day breaks because I have in the past.

Well, my TDEE usually comes out to 3000-3300 using my new and improved method, and our practices are a bit tougher, plus I am a 167 pound dude at 5'10, which is the same as strenuous setting. Experiment with strenuous for a week, and eat no exercise on days off, and keep salt low and constant, time of scaling constant, and record weight changes for two weeks, and go up or down 100-200 calories as needed in calculations.
