I used to be really crazy about bodybuilding and my body fat was so low that I didn't get my period, so I decided to gain 5 or 10 pounds and I felt better. Then I got pretty depressed because of family and drama at school issues, lost interest in exercise, and gained 15 pounds after that, back to where I started first, and I don't know how to get back on track.
I still work out, but not as much as I used to. Now I'm winded from just running a half mile. I'm trying to lose some weight and build a little muscle up for high school tennis and track seasons, and I'm going to do that slowly, because I don't want to mess anything up while I'm young.
I don't know if I need inspiration or what, but it's way harder than it used to be:(

Sorry it's harder than it used to be. Once you get into a routine, it'll get easier.

It's good you added weight when you realized your periods had stopped. It really isn't good to stop having periods. This is called secondary amenorrhea, if you want to Google it. It is a sign of stress - your body is saying, "Whoa, I'm working out too hard and not eating enough, so I could not possibly waste energy having periods, let alone get pregnant and have a baby!" This can lead to bone loss, too, because estrogen is very important for bone health.

Anyway, good for you, and keep up the good work.

The importance of maintaining a good mental health is crucial to living a long and healthy life. Good mental health can enhance one's life, while poor mental health can prevent someone from living a normal life.

Good that you have that clear. Not mentruating because of too low body fat is anything but healthy. On the long run such a thing can ruin your period, makes it harder to get pregnant one day. You may have not decided yet, if you want to have kids at all, whcih life you wann live, but I think it's stupid to ruin one's options befor a real decision is made.

Working out smartly is always good. It's proven, that it helps with depression and anxiety. Yet apart from working out you might consider that everything is harder now because a depressive episode has hit you pretty hard and you need professional help... I just wanna say that, before coming back to workout....

If I have motivational problems I like to join a group. Working out alone for years can be tough. I always try to make some of my training in a group. Long time it was climbing and cycling, now it's martial arts again. Just things I like to do.
I have a goal then and for that I get motivated also when I workout alone in the gym.

For you it might be tennis and track and field or something new?

I would like to ad that you might know already weight gain might a symptome of depression. Anyway.. as for us women loosing fat always happens on the plate and in the kitchen. Working out alone might not do it.
