Hey all.
My name is Sarah. I'm 19, 5,4" and weigh 154lbs. My aim is to loose weight and tone up (as does every girl, lol). This is my 2nd attempt at loosing weight so I want to get it right!

My boyfriend and I are doing this together, I'm trying to loose weight and tone up while he is trying to bulk up. He said he would gladly take all this extra weight off me and use it if he could lol skinny bugga that he is.

A BIG problem I have is that I'm a FUSSY eater Sad ! The only fruit I like is apples (without the skin and I don't eat them often) and I don't like much veg except potatoes and lettuce. I do however like most meats (I don't eat the fat on most though, like with pork and lamb, I also don't like the skin on chicken however I will leave the fat on bacon if it's crispy). I do like fish and eggs (but not the yolk) and with cereal I have semi-skimmed milk, however cereal is either something chocolate like coco pops or wheetabix with lots of sugar.

Lately I eat quite a few takeaways, about 1-3 per week depending on if we stay over at friends or go out (or usually just can't be bothered cook which I know is bad and has to change!). So takeaways are STOPPING, even if they are yummy Sad

Also I'm slightly asthmatic and have problems with my knees sometimes. I have a stepper and skipping rope which I hope to start using Smiley For my workout I will be following Scooby's beginning home workout.

I have been looking for some tablets or shakes to help me with loosing weight and toning up but there are SOOOO many so I was hoping for some recommendations for some which are good but not too expensive as I'm a student trying to run a car (which is expensive enough, lol).

I go to university about 4 days a week and a lot of the time I don't eat when I'm there but I know that's bad so I'm thinking of taking tuna mayo and pasta or tuna mayo butties (mayo light as I don't like normal mayo), is this good for my lunch or not?

I was also wondering if calorie counting would be any good for my situation?

I do like to drink when I go out, which isn't often but when I do it's either lager and black or tiamaria and coke.

I'm probably going to keep a diary of what I eat, my workouts and how I'm doing (might have my fella take pics for me but I don't know yet as I'm self-conscious). This is to help both myself and others, hopefully people can tell me how to improve and others can read it and either not make my mistakes or follow what I do if it's good.

As well as loosing weight and toning up I hope to inspire others in my position so please feel free to say or ask anything and if I can help I will. Even if all you need is someone to talk to or a bit of encouragement Smiley

Thank you soooo much for reading this. I hope to have feedback and to speak to you all soon.
 Much loves xxx

It always comes down to eating less than you burn and it doesn't matter what foods you do that with, as you can read here.

How to go about it is explained in the FAQ:

    Quote
    How can I lose fat?

    • You need to burn more energy than you put into your body. Around 3500 kcal makes a pound of bodyfat, so if per day you stay 500 kcal below what is needed to maintain your bodyweight, then 1lb of bodyfat will be lost per week.

So how do I determine that I'm 500 kcal below?

    • You need to calculate your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) and stay 500 calories below that number. This video and this video explain the principle.

Is there a minimum I need to eat to stay healthy while losing weight?

    • Yes, this minimum is called BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). If you go below it your body most likely won't get sufficient amounts of the nutrients it needs to lose weight healthily. As above, this video and this video explain it.
